Product description

Sulfatrim (SMZ TMP) Pediatric Suspension is a combination of antibiotics that work in conjunction with each other. It is prescribed for the treatment of urinary tract, skin, respiratory, or digestive tract infections. SMZ TMP can also be used for ear infections, kennel cough, coccidiosis, and pneumonia. This suspension contains two antibiotics, Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim, that inhibit the growth of bacteria by blocking the production of folic acid, which is essential in making the bacteria’s DNA. By combining two antibiotics, you increase the chance of killing the bacteria without promoting any resistance by the bacteria.

Active ingredients

Sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim is a synthetic antibacterial combination product containing 200 mg sulfamethoxazole and 40 mg trimethoprim per 5 mL for oral administration.

Inactive ingredients: alcohol (less than 0 .5%), carboxymethylcellulose sodium, citric acid, FD&C Red #40, FD&C Yellow #6, cherry flavor, methylparaben, microcrystalline cellulose and carboxymethylcellulose sodium, polysorbate 80, propylene glycol, propylparaben, purified water, saccharin sodium, simethicone emulsion, sucrose.
