Enalapril is a circular and flat tablet (colors may vary) for oral administration, that belongs to a class of drugs known as ACE (angiotensin converting enzyme) inhibitors. ACE inhibitors are vasodilators used to lower blood pressure. The effectiveness of the medication has been proven in the treatment of several diseases and disorders. In veterinary medicine, Enalapril is used in cats dogs.

Active ingredients

Each tablet of Enalapril contains:

  • Active ingredients:

    • Enalapril Tablets 2.5 mg contains 2.5 mg of Enalapril Maleate
    • Enalapril Tablets 5 mg contains 5 mg of Enalapril Maleate
    • Enalapril Tablets 10 mg contains 10 mg of Enalapril Maleate
    • Enalapril Tablets 20 mg contains 20 mg of Enalapril Maleate
  • Inactive ingredients:

    • Lactose, magnesium stearate, sodium bicarbonate, and starch.
    • Enalapril Tablets 10 mg and Enalapril Tablets 20 mg tablets also contain iron oxides.

Indications for use

Enalapril is indicated for use in cats and dogs for the treatment of:

  • Hypertension
  • Heart failure and other heart conditions
  • Chronic kidney failure

Enalapril possible side effects may include polyuria, oliguria, loss of appetite, nausea, or vomiting. Some patients may also experience an allergic reaction, dry mouth, and other side effects that are not listed here. Please discuss your pet’s response with his doctor at regular check-ups.
